Frequently asked questions

All Hot Pod saunas are crafted from premium 40 mm Thermowood Spruce, a sustainably sourced timber from Northern Europe. Thermowood is heat-treated for exceptional durability, insulation, and resistance to warping or decay – ideal for the UK climate.

Lighting is not included as standard with our saunas. However, many customers choose to add their own exterior or interior lighting to enhance the atmosphere. Our designs allow for safe, easy integration of low-voltage or LED lighting if you wish to install this after delivery.

Every Hot Pod sauna comes with a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty for timber structures and housings.

Our warranty does not cover damage caused by improper use, external damage or external factors such as high winds, storms, or improper use. For example, issues such as door damage due to wind impact or mould on benches caused by incorrect ventilation or storage are not considered manufacturing faults.

Heaters are covered by a 2-year respective manufacturer’s warranty.

Again, this does not cover damage caused by improper use or accidental damage.

Yes – all Hot Pod saunas are built for year-round outdoor use. The Thermowood Spruce construction is naturally weather-resistant and fully treated to withstand the UK’s varying climate. With proper care and
maintenance, your sauna can be enjoyed through every season – from chilly winter evenings to warm summer nights.

In most cases, planning permission is not required, as garden saunas are typically considered permitted development – similar to sheds or garden rooms.
However, if your property is listed, in a conservation area, or if you plan to install the sauna close to a boundary, it’s best to check with your local planning authority before ordering.

Minimal maintenance is needed. We recommend:
• Wiping down benches and floors regularly with a mild, non-abrasive cleaner
• Leaving the door open after each use to allow ventilation
• Re-treating the exterior wood annually with a UV-protective oil or stain to preserve colour and finish. These are treated initially with Tikkurila Valtti Furniture and Decking Oil.

Most of our saunas can be powered from a single-phase 230 V supply, which is standard in UK homes but the required amperage depends on the heater size:

  • 6 kW heater – typically runs on a 32 A supply
  • 8 kW heater – requires a 40 A supply (or three-phase if available)

You will need to appoint a qualified electrician who can confirm suitability based on your property’s existing setup and circuit capacity.

No - all electrical work must be carried out by a qualified electrician who can test, certify, and connect your sauna to comply with UK Wiring Regulations (BS 7671).

Cable sizing, breaker rating, and isolation requirements vary depending on the installation method, cable run length, and location.

Each Hot Pod sauna is supplied with a high-quality Harvia electric heater.

The heater model varies depending on the size of the sauna:

  • Pesa: Harvia KIP 45
  • Kaar: Harvia KIP 60
  • Keska: Harvia KIP 80
  • Muna: Harvia KIP 80 or Harvia Wall SW80
  • Suura: Harvia KIP 80 or Harvia Wall SW80

All heaters come complete with Harvia sauna stones, ready for use once professionally installed.

Lead times can be up to 10 weeks however we’ll confirm an estimated delivery window at the time of order.

Installation typically takes 1–2 days, depending on the sauna model and site accessibility. Before your delivery, we’ll agree a convenient date and time for installation and confirm all details to ensure a smooth, hassle-free process.

Your sauna will need to be installed on a solid, level, and well-drained base.
The surface must be capable of supporting the sauna’s full weight (see individual product specs).

We offer free shipping and installation to addresses in Kent. For shipping/installation outside of this area, please contact our team for a personalised quote.

Our Professional Installation Service includes delivery of your sauna to site and full assembly by our experienced two-person team. We’ll position the sauna in your desired location, assemble the structure, and ensure it’s fully secure and ready for use.

Please note that electrical connection, wiring, and heater installation are not included in our service. These must be completed by a qualified electrician.

Unfortunately, as our saunas are made to order, once these are installed we are unable to accept returns/refunds on these.

Unfortunately, we do not currently have any finance options available.
